Title

SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF Fe AND Zn COMPLEXES

Abstract

In past few decades metal complexes have been studied due to their biological and catalytic activity. Metal complexes has attracted considerable interest to develop new system in organic synthesis, due to reactivity of metal complexes. Azines easily bond to metal centers due to their ability to donate lone pairs of the N atom and the C=N p-orbital electrons. In catalysis and in organic synthesis N-N bond activation in organic ligands is important. Now a day, scientist face the challenge of the development of eco-friendly catalysts which should be easily separable, recyclable, and metal leaching is also nil. There is also need of eco-friendly catalyst for asymmetric synthesis in pharmaceutical field. In order to achieve goal of green chemistry, anchoring or encapsulation of complexes on various supports is necessary. So, we have undertaken a synthesis of silica grafted 2-hydroxyacetophenone azine complexes with Fe and Zn transition metal ions. The synthesized ligand and complexes are characterized by various investigative techniques such as UV, FT-IR, NMR, Mass, XRD, SEM, TEM, BET and TGA employed for structural investigations.
