Title

ASSESS THE HEALTH STATUS OF THE PEOPLE RESIDING AT REMOTE HILLY REGION OF DISTRICT SIRMOUR, HIMACHAL PRADESH

Abstract

Health is a major aspect of well-being. It is always defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity to lead a socially and economically productive life. The study aimed to describe the health status of the people residing in the hilly region and important indicators to evaluate the performance of health system. Methodology: Quantitative Approach, Exploratory Study was conducted at remote Hilly region in Himachal Pradesh. Sample of 160 people residing in remote hilly area non-Probability Convenience sampling technique was used to select the participants. This study reveals that In this study the Majority of were having (60%) optimal systolic blood pressure, 15% normal, 11% having high normal, 7% grade I (mild), 4% grade II (moderate), 3% grade III (severe). With related to Haemoglobin 51% were having normal HB, 36% were having mild anaemia, 12% moderate anaemia, 1% were having severe anaemia. Consumption of alcohol in overall population 11% sometimes,1% daily and 1% never and 1.9% take daily consume tobacco. The correlation between Systolic BP (clinical parameters) and BMI (Physical Parameter) Statistically Highly Significant at p= 0.000** Pearson Correlation 0.386 level of significance. The correlation between diastolic B.P. and BMI at Statistically Highly Significant at p= 0.000** Pearson Correlation 0.376 level of significance. The correlation between systolic B.P. and age in years that is Statistically Highly Significant at p= 0.000** Pearson Correlation 0.299 level of significance. The correlation between diastolic B.P. and age in years that is Statistically Significant at p= 0.018* Pearson Correlation 0.187 level of significance. The correlation between systolic BMI and age in years that is Statistically Highly Significant at p= 0.001** Pearson Correlation 0.262 level of significance. With the introduction of the Himachal Health Care programme on December 29, 2018, the government of Himachal Pradesh took significant steps toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and extended the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme to all segments of society. People in hilly areas are unaware of health assessment due to lack of health services, resources and facilities. Since hilly area development is vast and a complex issue (multidimensional).Among them health is always a concerned issue and there should be frequent health camps in these areas to reduce such conditions like COPD, heart disease & substance abuse.
