Ayurveda is essentially the science of life. Ayurveda is itself a perfect principle for leading a healthy life including physical, mental, spiritual well-being and combating with illness.For this total positive health, Ayurveda has described the concept of dosha-dhatu-mala and their equilibrium. The strength, complexion, and compactness of the individual body depend on these three factors.Another factor responsible for the maintenance of health and prevention of diseases is named ojas. Acharyas have mentioned ojas as an essence of seven dhatu. A few have mentioned it as Tejas of seven dhatus or even an eighth dhatu. Ojas is responsible for the maintenance of the normal functions of the body, termed dehasthitinibandhana. However, it is a general perception that our body gradually loses its strength and vigor as the age of the person increases. One may assume that this decay may be caused by the depletion of Ojas. This study will explore the concept of Ojas and Vaya followed by the possible correlation between the status of Ojas and vayomana.
