Data mining is a major advancement in the type of the analytical tools and a multi-disciplinary field of a combination of machine learning, statistics, database technology and AI. This technique includes a number of phases: Business understandings, Data understanding and preparation, Modeling, Pattern Evaluation, and Deployment[1]. Data mining has proven to be very beneficial in the field of Education as it increases accuracy of student’s performance prediction, to reduce failure rate of student .Educational data mining is the process of applying the data mining tools and techniques to analyze data at the educational institutions. In this paper, in educational data mining we used data mining classification algorithms like J48 algorithm from decision tree to predict the student’s performance basing on previous result and present attitude.
