Abstract

In this paper study the Opportunities and Challenges of Digital Marketing in India. The Internet service was launched in India on August 15, 1995, by VSNL (Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited). VSNL was acquired by Tata Group and renamed Tata Communications in 2008. Digital marketing, also called online marketing, is the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers using the internet and other forms of digital communication. The way marketing is becoming cost-effective while reaching a larger audience, many businesses, big and small, are adopting digital marketing. This creates new opportunities for digital marketing professionals, allowing them to put their marketing skills to better use. Opportunities in digital marketing are endless, and as a digital marketer, you need to be aware of these new ways to reach the audience. In 2022, it is projected to take an even higher leap. India has the 2nd largest number of internet users in the world. The internet’s penetration has reached outstanding numbers in the country. By 2023, the number of active Indian internet users is expected to grow up to almost 666 million in India and higher than 5.3 billion on a global level. In the present era, buyers expect knowledge that offers potential solution to their product related problems. The strong visibility of the organization or the brand through digital marketing allows the consumers to develop perceived knowledge about the brand.
