This study proposes a straightforward method for addressing fractional variational issues utilizing an operational matrix of generalized shifted hat basis function. Such a functional can be minimized to produce a set of algebraic equations, which can then be solved numerically using the proper method. It is not necessary to solve the fractional Euler-Lagrange equations in order to acquire the numerical solution for the class of problems under consideration, which may be derived directly from the functional. The suggested method is validated by numerical examples, approximate solutions, and comparison to existing approaches to ensure correctness and applicability.
