Title

Computational Approach for Genome Annotation- A Review

Abstract

Computational genome annotation of sequences has emerged as a key area of study in computational biology as a result of the advancement of high-throughput sequencing technologies. The genome sequences of various organisms obtained through sequencing are nebulous in unraveling the complete molecular processes of life. Genomes contain all information about the organisms, in the form of specific patterns about functional components that eventually lead to a full-fledged life creation. Genome annotation is the process of identifying and labeling the various functional elements within a genome sequence, such as genes, regulatory regions, and non-coding sequences. This involves using computational tools to predict gene locations, determine their functions, and identify relationships between different genomic elements. In order to understand gene functions, structure and their genome evolution, we first looked at Functional and structural annotations. and pipelines for both structural and functional annotations. Second, we contrasted genome annotation tools that use ab initio and homology-based approaches based on sequence similarity or lack of evidence. Third, we looked at pipelines for both structural and functional annotations. and emphasized the importance of quality control for annotations and re-annotations, as misannotations can occur as a result of experimental errors or genes that previous technologies missed. Lastly, we discussed the potential applications of emerging technologies for annotations in the future.
