Freshwater molluscs play a vital role in aquatic ecosystems by contributing to nutrient cycling, water purification, and serving as bioindicators of environmental health. However, their physiological and reproductive performance vary significantly with age. This study examines the relationship between aging, reproductive potential, and morphometric growth in freshwater molluscs. Age-related variations in shell size, gonadal development and fecundity were analyzed to understand the decline or modulation of reproductive efficiency over time. The findings reveal that younger individuals show higher growth rates and reproductive activity compared to older ones, whose physiological efficiency tends to decline due to cellular aging and environmental stressors. The study highlights the importance of understanding life-history strategies and age-associated reproductive shifts for biodiversity conservation and aquaculture management of molluscan species.
