A THEORETICAL REVIEW ON CONSUMER’S PSYCHOGRAPHIC FACTORS TOWARDS PURCHASE INTENTION OF GREEN PRODUCTS IN FMCG - (GREEN MARKET APPEAL)

Abstract

The increasing concern for the environment has led to a growing interest in green or eco-friendly products. Despite this trend, sales of these products have not seen a significant increase, indicating that there is still a gap between consumers' attitudes and their purchasing behaviour. This gap has prompted companies and marketers to study the influence of psychographic factors on consumers' attitudes and behaviours towards green products. The study aimed to investigate the psychographic determinants that are important in shaping consumers' attitudes towards green products and their impact on green purchase intention and behaviour. Through a review of available literature, the study found that environmental consciousness, health consciousness, self-enhancement value, and social pressure are the most significant factors affecting green purchase behaviour either directly or indirectly through attitudes and intentions.
