Title

“A STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECT OF STRUCTURED TEACHING PROGRAMME ON KNOWLEDGE REGARDING

Abstract

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: There are more than 3.8 billion internet uses around the world. Nearly 90% of people between the ages of 18 to 29 used at least one form of internet there are some advantages and some disadvantages of excessive use of internet like inattentiveness, stress, jealousy, depression.​​​​​​​​​ OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to assess the effect of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding effect of excessive use of internet and its prevention among first year b.com students and to find out association between selected demographic variables with the pretest knowledge score. METHODS: A pre-experimental (one group pretest post test) design adopted for collecting data from 40 samples using a structured knowledge questionnaire comprising 30 questions. RESULTS: According to the findings, the mean post test knowledge score was significantly higher than the mean pretest knowledge score with a mean difference of 5.7 the calculated “t” value is 11.64 was greater than the tabulated “t” value is 2.02 at 0.05 level of significance. Therefore, the null hypotheses (H0) was rejected and research hypotheses (H1) was accepted and it revealed that the structured teaching programme was effective in increasing knowledge among first year b.com students. The findings also revealed that gender and area of residence has significance association with pretest knowledge score. Hence, the research hypotheses (H2) were accepted. Structured teaching programme regarding effect of excessive use of internet and it’s prevention among first year B.com students. The findings clearly indicates that there is a greater need of awareness about excessive use of internet and it’s prevention.
