Title

A PRE EXPERIMENTAL STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF VIDEO ASSISTED TEACHING PROGRAMME ON KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE REGARDING COLOSTOMY CARE AMONG B.SC. NURSING THIRD YEAR STUDENTS IN SELECTED NURSING INSTITUTES AT DISTRICT SANGRUR PUNJAB

Abstract

This study has been undertaken to investigate the effectiveness of video assisted teaching program on knowledge regarding colostomy care among B.Sc. nursing third year students in a selected nursing institutes at District Sangrur, Punjab. Structured knowledge questionnaire and Checklist was used for data collection. A pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test research design was used for 60 B.Sc. Nursing third year students and non randomized convenience sampling technique was used. The finding revealed that in pre interventional group 25%, 11.7%,28.3%,26.7%,8.3% had poor, below, average, good and excellent knowledge followed by ¯x 24.12 SD± 6.481. In terms of practice group 13.3%,75%,11.7% , had Poor, Average, Good practice. In post test experimental group 18.3%, 11.7%, 21.7%, 36.7%, 11.7% had poor, below, average, good and excellent knowledge followed by ¯x 25.77 SD ±64.42. In terms of practice 3.3%, 60%, 36.7% had Poor, Average and Good practice. The mean difference of level of knowledge score is 1.650. T test value is 2.552. The result shows that administration of video assisting teaching program was effective to enhance the knowledge score of B.Sc. nursing third year students significantly.
