The following discourse is an attempt to look at the pre colonial village life of the Tangkhul Naga society. Before the advent of the British into the Tangkhul Naga country in the 19th century nothing much was known about the social and cultural life of the Tangkhuls. They were absolutely living in their own world completely void of modernity. The village was a self sufficient independent unit with its customary laws reigning supreme. And so the write up here is to walk through the village life of the yester years of the Tangkhuls.
