A dream does not become reality by magic this concept is very well acknowledged by every single person living on this planet. Everyone have the idea of what exactly they are going to do in their life when they grow up. People have some fantasies, some dreams, since their childhood. Whether the dreams are substantial or meager, people try hard to achieve them. Interestingly, some people start living their dream even without realizing it. They do not realize when they come true all of sudden. But some people’s dream come true in peculiar ways. Peculiar and so different that people do not even realize it was the same dream they dreamt about once. Their own dreams start to hurt them, make their lives hell, and they curse themselves for dreaming such dreams and they feel like they have planned their own funerals. Leyla, in Elif Shafak’s novel 10 Minutes 38 Seconds in This Strange World, had the dream of living in Istanbul, a distant city, much like another world to her. Her dream seemed like it was going to be very easy to fulfil. This research paper portrays the one small dream of Leila that she saw when she was only six years old while she was living in her big house at Van and her disappointments that she received on the other end.
