ABSTRACT The famous adage “Justice delayed justice denied” is very important. A delay in trial is a denial of justice. Fairness, independence, and a justice-based approach are the hallmarks of the Indian judiciary. The Constitution promised "justice-social, economic and political" to all its citizens. Delay in the disposal of cases is a black mark on the system. Cases are piling up heavily in the courts. It is shaking public confidence and confidence in the justice system. A rapid trial is a sense of criminal justice. "Plea bargaining" has become an integral part of the criminal justice system in the United States. Therefore, the thrust of the paper is to understand the concept of plea bargaining in India, its merits, demerits, and the role of the judiciary.
