The gig economy, characterized by short-term contracts and freelance work, has significantly transformed traditional labour markets. This paper evaluates the economic implications of the gig economy on labour rights and income stability. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing literature, economic data, and case studies, we examine the impact of gig work on workers' rights and financial security. While the gig economy provides flexibility and new income opportunities, it also poses considerable challenges, including insufficient labour protections and income volatility. The findings indicate that gig workers often face precarious employment conditions and unpredictable earnings, which can undermine their economic stability. To address these issues, we propose policy recommendations aimed at enhancing labour rights and ensuring more stable income for gig workers. This research underscores the necessity for a balanced approach that maximizes the benefits of the gig economy while mitigating its adverse effects on labour rights and financial security.
