Title

Arduino Methods for Detecting and Avoiding Obstacles in Vehicles

Abstract

One of the key components of mobile robotics is obstacle avoidance. Without it, robot motion would be extremely limited and brittle. The robotic vehicle that is proposed in this project has intelligence incorporated into it, allowing it to steer itself around obstacles. Hence, to shield the robot from any harm. This idea can be used to create a robotic vehicle that can avoid obstacles by employing ultrasonic sensors to guide it. The desired operation is carried out by an AT mega 328P microcontroller. Any obstruction in front of it is detected by an ultrasonic sensor, which then sends an instruction to the microcontroller. The microcontroller commands the robot to move in a different direction based on the input signal it receives by activating the motors that are interfaced to it through a motor driver.
