Title

Review on microemulsion: theory, methods of preparation

Abstract

From the discovery of micro emulsions by scientist Jack H. Shulman. The abundance progresses done in applying microemulsion systems in a research and industrial processes. Microemulsions are the clear, stable, isotropic mixtures of the oil, water, surfactant made by combination off drug with a co-surfactant. Micro-emulsions are optically isotropic and thermodynamically stable liquid formulation of oil, water and surfactant. Microemulsions have been ability to control release of the drug, increase a solubility of drug, increase drug bioavailability and reduce patient irregularity and protect unstable drug. This review is about the fundamental work characterizing the Physico-chemical behaviour of microemulsions, which techniques used to make them, their advantages disadvantages, and their properties we are discussing in this review. To attempt and demonstrate the significance of microemulsions as delivery vehicles, this review provides an overview of microemulsion formation, characterization, and application in various drug delivery routes. Because of their distinct properties, such as ultralow interfacial tension, large interfacial area, thermodynamic stability, and the ability to dissolve immiscible liquids. In this review we also talk about the different theories of the microemulsion formation, techniques use to form them, and characterisation of microemulsion. Micro-emulsions have numerous. They have appears as novel vehicles for drug delivery which allow controlled or sustained release for ocular, percutaneous, topical, transdermal, and parenteral administration of medicaments.
