Network automation is a powerful tool that enables network engineers to automate network configuration and man- agement tasks. Application Programming Interface (API) is a set of protocols that enable software programs to communicate with each other. In this paper, we discuss the role of APIs in network automation and how it can be leveraged to simplify network management and reduce manual intervention. We also explore the different types of APIs used in network automation and their significance as it provides us a new schema of networking and it serves as an intermediary between the business and network infrastructure. It also performs functions like routing, Switching and Traffic monitoring.
