Title

Impact of Growth and Fixed Mindset on Regret and Mental Wellbeing in Middle and Late Adulthood

Abstract

The present study aims to measure the impact of Growth and Fixed Mindset on Regret and Mental Wellbeing in Middle and Late Adulthood. Purposive sampling technique was used for the study. The sample size consists of 121 adults, of which 64 belong to Middle Adulthood and 57 belong to Late Adulthood. The following scales were used to collect data, namely - Growth Mindset Scale by Carol Dweck (2006), Regret Intensity Scale by Delphine S (2013) and Mental Wellbeing Scale by Warwick-Edinburgh (2007). Descriptive statistics, ‘t’ test and correlation were used to verify the hypotheses. The findings revealed that Late Adults have lower Growth Mindset, higher Regret Intensity and lower Mental Wellbeing when compared to Middle Adults. Among Middle Adults, Growth Mindset showed a negative correlation to Regret Intensity and positive correlation to Mental Wellbeing, while fixed mindset showed an opposite impact. Whereas in Late Adults, Growth Mindset had a positive correlation to Mental Wellbeing and Regret Intensity was high, immaterial of the mindset.
