Title

A STUDY ON THE EMERGENCE OF WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN INDIA

Abstract

Entrepreneurship is one of the most important inputs in the economic development of a country. Over the years the economy of India has been progressive because of the growth in the number of entrepreneurs. Unlike a decade ago women now hold entrepreneurial positions that were once considered male dominated. At present women play a crucial role in the growth and development of the Indian economy. They have managed to survive and have succeeded in this cut throat competition with their hard work, diligence and perseverance. Women-owned business enterprises are playing a prominent role in society by generating employment opportunities in the country, bringing in demographic shifts and inspiring the next generation of women founders. Be it building new-age ventures or paving the way for aspiring women entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs in India are leading a cultural revolution. Female entrepreneurs like Vandana Luthra, Falguni Nayar, Namita Thapar, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Aditi Gupta have contributed towards economic development in India. There are countless other women entrepreneurs in India who strive every day not only to fulfil their ambitions but also to provide exceptional services to the population and create employment. However, more women need to join the entrepreneurial brigade, still women have to go a long way. This research paper is an attempt to analyse and create awareness about the importance of women entrepreneurs, difficulties faced by them, female start-up success stories, Government schemes and suggestions.
