Title

A Study on enabling factors and barriers to work performance among the Police personnel in Tamil Nadu

Abstract

The pursuit of a fulfilling life involves balancing different aspects such as family, health, wealth, career, social obligations, intellectual satisfaction, and spiritual enlightenment. Work-life balance is crucial to achieving this integration and allowing people to reach their potential in all areas of life. However, it is a common challenge for many employees to balance work and family commitments, and they must work hard to strike a balance between the demands of work and their personal life. Work–life balance in the present context is of prime importance because of the nature of today’s modern workforce characterized by higher rates of labour market participation by women, a young workforce with generation ‘Y’ employees, long working hours, work intensification, working in odd hours, emerging technology, globally competitive market and our renewed interest in personal lives and family values. With this background, the present paper tried to analyse the factors influencing work performance among police personnel in Tamil Nadu. It is found that clear rules and regulations, attention from the immediate boss, appropriate compensation, praise and rewards are the important facilitating factors in increased work performance.
