This study is conducted to compare the overall employee performance of top 5 public sector banks (PSBs) and top 5 Private Sector Banks in India in terms of Key Ratios. The bank positions are selected based on the Total Business as on March 20221 . For the purpose of the present study, data for 18 years (2005-2022) is taken from the publications ‘Statistical Tables relating to Banks’ published by Reserve Bank of India. Ratios selected for the analysis are profit per employee, business per employee, wages to total expenses, and wages to total income. The results from the ANOVA analysis on the employee related ratios indicated that all the 10 selected PSBs banks have unequal efficiency levels. However, there is a larger variance between the five Public Sector and Private Sector Banks as two separate ownership structures. The study concludes that during the past 18 years, the average employee performance of Private Sector Banks is higher than that of Public Sector Banks. However, Public Sector banks are better in the average Business per employee.
