Title

Physiological Aspect Of Hridaya In Ayurveda

Abstract

Ayurveda is our ancient science which believes in Prevention is better than cure. Prevalence of Hridaya Roga (heart disease) is increasing in our country from last few decades because of change in life style, dietary habits, excess stress and smoking habits etc. Due to this changes in life style, young peoples also suffering from Hridaya roga. As the Hridaya is one of the Sadhya Pranahara Marma (injury leads to immediate death), the mortality and morbidity due to Hridaya roga increasing day by day. Hence Acharya Charaka states that Hridaya Marma Paripalanam means protection and nourishment of Hridaya Marma is most important to prevent the Hridaya roga. For prevention of Hridaya roga it is very essential to know exact physiology of Hridaya and how the Dosha, Dhatu(building blocks of body) and Srotas (inner transport channels ) helps Hridaya to perform its normal physiological functions .
