Title

Human Computer Interaction: Technologies and Challenges

Abstract

Human-Machine Studies or Human-Machine Interaction were the previous names for Human-Computer Interface (HCI). It focuses on the conception, application, and assessment of computer systems, as well as associated phenomena, designed for human use. HCI appeared in the 1980s with the arrival of personal computing. For the first time, sophisticated electronic systems for applications such as word processing, game consoles and accounting assistance were made available to the general public. As computers were no longer expensive and were built exclusively for professionals in specialized environments, the necessity of creating human-computer interactions easily and efficiently, even by inexperienced users, became all the more important. From its inception, HCI has expanded to include multiple disciplines such as computer science, cognitive science, and human factors engineering. Beginning with the introduction, this paper offers a review of the present technologies being used in Human Computer Interaction which includes technologies such as Dexta Haptic Gloves, Pre-Touch Sensing, Paper ID, Skintrack and Ambient Intelligence and Ubiquitous Computing, the current areas of research in HCI comprising Emotions and HCI , Knowledge-Driven HCI, Convolutional Neural Networks and Virtual Reality, the application areas of HCI which includes applications such as Internet of Things, Eye Tracking Technology, Speech Recognition, Cloud Computing and Hand Recognition and finally the challenges encountered in HCI. A thorough list of references is also provided in this paper for each concept.

Key Words

Interfaces, human-computer interactions, HCI challenges.
