This study explored the antioxidant properties of Plagiomnium medium by assessing its 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity. The DPPH radical scavenging method, a widely accepted procedure for evaluating antioxidant capacity, was employed in this study. Ascorbic acid, a well-established antioxidant, served as a positive control. The results indicated that Plagiomnium medium exhibited DPPH radical scavenging activity, albeit less potent than ascorbic acid. The DPPH scavenging activity decreased as the concentration of the Plagiomnium medium decreased, a trend observed in both ascorbic acid and Plagiomnium medium. This preliminary investigation suggests that Plagiomnium medium may possess antioxidant properties and warrants further research to elucidate its potential as a natural source of antioxidants.
