ABSTRACT- In the recent years, skin diseases have gained more importance and attention, by the medical science as well as the public. Incidence of fungal infections increases due to various reasons like poverty, unhygienic environmental conditions, poor sanitation, illiteracy, malnutrition, improper skin care etc. The patients experience physical, mental, emotional and socioeconomic embarrassment. In Ayurveda skin fungal infection is termed as Dadru . Nidana, Poorvarupa, Samprapti of Dadru is not mentioned separately by Acharyas, but it can be considered same as of Kustha. Dadru Kushta spread person to person. It is one of the Kapha-Pitta Pradhana Twak Vikara. It involves the symptoms like Kandu, Pidika, Varna (Atasipushpa) with Utsannamandala (Round patch), it is also mentioned as “Anushangini”. On the basis of symptoms most of the scholars have simulated Dadru with “Tinea”. This is most common dermatological manifestation affecting up to 15% of world’s population in all age group. We have selected Apamarga (Achyranthes aspera Linn.) since this drugs is easily available, and not much costly. Apamarga is called as “Prickly chaff flower”.. Apamarga is well known drug in Ayurveda and also mentioned for the treatment of Dadru by various Nighantus. This paper demonstrates the role of Apamarga Panchanga Churna Lepa in Dadru.
