Title

An experimental study on partial replacement of fine aggregate with granite dust in m30 concrete

Abstract

Now a days granites are widely used as a flooring material. The waste of granite dust is taken for our experimental investigation. This project intends to investigate possibility of producing low cost enhanced performance concrete by using granite dust. The partial replacement of ingredients in concrete gives the general characteristics like density, strength, workability, durability which are greater than cast in situ concrete. The conventional concrete mixture consists of cement, coarse aggregate, fine aggregate and water. In this project granite dust is used with different percentages of 20, 40, 60 and 80. The preliminary experts are conducted in ingredients of concrete &granite the mix proportion is derived for M30 concrete by following the steps given in IS10262 as 1:1.57:2.6:0.45.There are 30 cubes of 150mm size and 15 cylinders of 150mm diameter are casted in our investigation. The fine aggregate is partially replaced by granite dust at 20,40,60 and 80% the max compressive strengths and the max split tensile strength were noticed at 40% of fine aggregate was replaced with granite powder. The variation of both compressive strength and tensile strength are presented in the form of bar charts.
