Title

A Review on Hot Forging Process Analysis and Preform Optimization

Abstract

This study provides an overview of the hot forging process and preform optimization. Hot forging is a widely used manufacturing technique for shaping metal components. Preform optimization plays a crucial role in maximizing material utilization and minimizing forging load. By utilizing advanced tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software, engineers can simulate and analyse the forging process to identify the optimal preform shape, size, and orientation. This paper covers review on various aspects of forging process optimization, including preform design, process parameter optimization, die design, multi-objective optimization, and the use of advanced optimization algorithms. Each study contributes to improving the efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness of forging processes. The optimization process leads to reduced waste, improved material flow, and enhanced product quality. Preform optimization is particularly important in drop hammer forging, where high-impact forces are applied. Optimizing preform volumes results in cost savings, shorter production times, and superior mechanical properties in the final forged components.
