In this study, we sought to review a variety of studies focused on the climate impacts of farmers, with reference to the Northeast Hill Region. The study shows that the region is experiencing climate change, leading to the loss of human livelihoods, and species, and changes in livestock conditions. Climate change has more impact on the primary sector which is dominated by small and marginal farmers. The effects of climate change in the north-eastern region of India are poorly understood, creating uncertainties for future risk assessment and disaster risk management. People living in mountainous areas experience many kinds of adverse effects including environmental degradation, biodiversity loss, and worsening socio-economic conditions due to climate change. The current study is an attempt to revisit previous literature to understand the impact of climate change on farmers’ livelihoods with special reference to the northeast mountain regions. Agricultural techniques that helped people thrive in the past may no longer work effectively as the environment shrinks, demographic fluctuations and rapid global changes put enormous pressure on diverse communities. Educating people about variability, mitigation, and adaptation options is important, equipping them with the necessary skills and encouraging them to develop sustainable practices.
