Biochemical compounds and substances that are naturally created by organisms are called "natural products", those by plants are “natural phytochemicals”, and those with medicinal values are “natural therapeutic phytochemicals”. Natural materials were already in medicinal use before the advent of modern technologies making their usage even more widespread. Micromolecules and macromolecules alike have been linked to anti-tumor effects also. Various forms of human cancer can be inhibited or even cured by using natural substances or their derivatives with anti-tumor capabilities. Natural compounds, such as emodin, genistein, gingerol, etc., have been extremely important in the history of carcinoma medication for treating human illness. One of the main objectives of natural product research is to discover novel, physiologically active compounds with novel structures and mechanisms of action with no side or inverse effects. The discovery and development of medications to prevent and treat cancer can benefit greatly from natural components.
