Title

ANALYSIS AND COMPARISONS OF RCC BUILDING WITH INDIAN AND BRITISH CODE USING STAAD-PRO SOFTWARE

Abstract

This study focuses on investigating the seismic behavior of different structures by applying different seismic design provisions, specifically the Indian and British codes, to analyze the earthquake response. The research specifically targets a residential building with a special reinforced concrete (RC) structure, consisting of ten floors above the ground level. The modeling of the structure is carried out using STAAD PRO software, which is widely utilized for structural analysis and design. Reinforced concrete frames are commonly employed in urban construction due to factors such as economic growth, urbanization, limited horizontal space availability, rising land costs, and the necessity to preserve agricultural land. As high-rise structures are becoming increasingly popular, it is essential to ensure these buildings can withstand not only gravity loads but also lateral forces, especially in cities located in high-risk seismic zones. Therefore, the primary objective of this study is to compare the seismic performance of G+10 storey structures situated in earthquake zone III. All frames are designed with the same gravity loading, and the seismic analysis is conducted using the response spectrum method. The results obtained from the STAAD PRO software are compared, focusing on parameters such as base shear, deflection, and storey drift during linearly static analysis using the response spectrum method.
