Title

A Study on Awareness and Perception of Students towards the Banking Ombudsman Scheme

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the awareness and perception of college students towards the Banking Ombudsman Scheme in India and to suggest measures to improve the awareness and utilization of the scheme among student customers. Design/methodology/approach: The study used a survey method with a convenient sampling technique to select 100 college students as participants. Structured questionnaires were prepared to collect data from participants in person, and descriptive statistics were used to analyze the collected data. The study adhered to ethical principles and guidelines for research involving human subjects. Findings: The results showed that a significant proportion of college students in India have not heard of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme. Although there is some awareness of the scheme, there is still a lack of utilization among students. The study also found that students who were aware of the scheme had a positive perception of its effectiveness in resolving banking complaints. Practical implications: The study suggests that there is a need for awareness-raising initiatives to improve the knowledge and utilization of the Banking Ombudsman Scheme among college students in India. The study recommends that educational institutions, banks, and the regulatory authorities take necessary measures to increase the awareness of the scheme among students. Originality/value: The study provides new insights into the awareness and perception of college students towards the Banking Ombudsman Scheme in India. The findings of the study could be useful for policymakers, regulators, educational institutions, and banks to enhance the effectiveness of the scheme in resolving banking complaints and providing better customer service.
