IDEOLOGY plays an important role in the life pattern of an individual. People with different ideologies and mindset co-exist in the society Various factors like the family pattern, upbringing, education, peer group, etc. influence an individual’s ideology. However, a major factor guiding ideology is age group/generation. In this, the researchers have considered 2 main age groups – Young Adults: 18 years to 28 years Adults: 29 years and above The researchers have hypothesized that adults have more traditional opinions and a rigid ideology as compared to the youth, a survey had been carried out by using the questionnaire method where a set of questions pertaining to various issues like LGBTQ rights, Consumerism and trend following were included. Results show that the youth have a more liberal approach towards social issues as compared to the adults who are quite conservative. Over a period of time, an ideological shift has taken place which has some positive as well as some negative components. Urbanization, the spread of literacy and awareness, exposure to global ideals, technological advancement, etc. are some of the reasons behind this deviation.
