As the population around the globe is increasing due to fast urbanization and industrialization, the demand for water keeps on rising but the quality is deteriorating day by day. Indian packaged drinking water industry is driven by the events of unpredicted drinking water shortage and increase in health consciousness amongst the people. Packaged Drinking Water (PDW) is the water that is filled into airtight sealed containers of various shapes and capacities and that is safe for direct consumption (FAO/WHO, 2007), has at present a large variety of types and brands and is widely consumed around the world in countries with different levels of social and economic strata. In India the market of packaged drinking water is dominated by certain players operating nationally since it is very competitive. This research article gives an insight how the top brands dealing in packaged drinking water are maintaining their supply chain in far flung areas of the country.
