At mostly evaluation of school/college and university done on the basis of student’s performance. The majority of college/school, administration and work places applied the marks of students to assess the academic performance in a semester or final examination, so each and every student very serious about their marks/result of semester. Academic Performance of the students is affected by psychological, economic, social, personal and environmental factors. Though these factors strongly influence the performance of students, but these factors differ from country to country and person to person. Objectives: 1) Assess the factors affecting to academic performance of first year B.Sc. nursing & first year GNM students.2) Compare factors affecting to academic performance of first year B.Sc. nursing & first year GNM students.3) To find the association between factors affecting to academic performances with selected sociodemographic and educational variables. 4) To prepare information pamphlet as per study findings on factors affecting academic performance of nursing students. Material and Methods: Comparative descriptive research design with cross sectional survey approach was used for the present study to find out factors affecting to academic performance of student studying in selected college of nursing. 100 nursing students (50 first year BSc Nursing and 50 GNM students) from selected nursing college in Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra, with Non probability convenient sampling technique. Result: The comparison of factors affecting academic performance of first year B.Sc. nursing & first year GNM students which shows; High level affected factors i.e. Personal condition mean score was (2.82±1.99) Vs (5.4±6.46) , teacher related aspect mean score ( 6.6±3.87) Vs ( 11.9±6.97), teaching learning activities mean score (2.52±3.06) Vs. (8.74±5.11), then Moderate level affected factors i.e. study habit mean score (7.66±5.05) Vs ( 9.56±5.78) and home related aspect mean score (8.08±4.49) Vs (7.14±4.28) whereas Equally affected factor i.e. college related aspect mean score (10.42±4.15) Vs (10.44±5.27) respectively. Overall factors affecting academic level among first BSc nursing students Vs first year GNM students mean score was (38.1±13.91) Vs (53.18±20.47). These factors are affecting on academic performance of first year BSc nursing students and GNM students. Conclusion: The findings concluded that the environmental, social, economical and negative influence of media (Mobile and easy internet access) factors are mostly affected on academic performance of first year B.Sc. nursing & first year GNM students. On the basis of findings to get improvement in academic performance of students having need to use some preventive and effective strategies.
