Roland Barthes, in his essay "The death of an author." provides a very convenient and simple solution to a not so simple problem. Barthes through his essay suggests that the author be completely eliminated from the frame of the text, that he/she has produced and allow the reader to develop and freely interpret the work according to their own free understanding. My personal understanding of the essay, convinces me to, only partially agree with the opinion of Barthes. According to my personal reading of the text , complete elimination of the author /writer is not realistically feasible as the work produced by the writer is much like an untrodden path for a reader, who would require some guidance from the author in order to better understand the path he/she is travelling. Therefore the death of the author, is not a necessity for the birth of a reader.
