Title

Effectiveness of Selected Multicomponent Nursing Interventions on Quality of Life and Birth Outcomes of Pregnant Women - Pilot Study Report

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy is a physiological occurrence that places a significant burden on the female body. In order to meet the changing needs of the foetus, the expectant mother goes through various changes which may have an impact on pregnant women's quality of life (QoL), influencing both maternal and baby’s health. Aim: To Evaluate the effectiveness of selected multicomponent nursing interventions on quality of life and birth outcomes of pregnant women. Materials and methods: RCT was conducted on twenty-two pregnant women who attended antenatal OPD. RAND 36-Item Health Survey 1.0 Questionnaire Items were used to assess the QoL of pregnant women. Multicomponent nursing interventions include Psychoeducation, Antenatal exercises and JPMRT. Result: The mean PCS score of QoL in control group at baseline was 57.05+17.79 and after 10 weeks 28.41+ 7.78 whereas in experiment group 70.74+23.21 at baseline and 66.59+13.10 after 10 weeks. The mean MCS score of QoL in control group at baseline was 68.98+18.00 and after 10 weeks 52.76+ 11.73 whereas in experiment group it was 77.76+21.62 at baseline and after 10 weeks 86.59+6.26. Conclusion: Study findings shows that QoL decreases with progression of gestation, but interventions helped in sustaining/improving the QoL of pregnant women so due attention must be given on it by continuous monitoring and motivation.
