The Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) has emerged as a crucial platform for maritime security collaboration among India, Sri Lanka, and Maldives. With the recent addition of Mauritius, the CSC aims to strengthen regional cooperation in areas, such as cybersecurity, counterterrorism, and disaster relief. However, the absence of Maldives in the latest meeting and its growing inclination towards Turkey and China raises concerns about its commitment to the organization. As China's influence in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) grows, India is intensifying its efforts to neutralize this impact and establish stronger ties with neighbouring island nations. This article explores India's strategic initiatives, the challenges posed by China, the need for sub-regional cooperation in the Indian Ocean and the efforts to Counter China's Influence in the Indian Ocean Region.
