Title

Control and Simulation of Three-Phase Voltage Source Inverters for Innovative Power System Control using Various Algorithms

Abstract

Three-phase voltage source inverters based on Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors (IGBTs) are widely used in various applications. They are particularly suitable for interfacing with renewable energy sources like solar cells and wind turbines. These inverters are commonly employed in motor drives, electric vehicles, and generator control systems. The control, modeling, and simulation of three-phase voltage source inverters involve the use of different control algorithms, including Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and Active and Reactive Power Control. PWM is a technique used to convert digital signals, often generated by devices like microcontrollers, into analog signals. Instead of providing a continuously varying signal, PWM utilizes a series of pulses to distribute the signal's energy. This approach enables precise control over the average voltage or current delivered. The PWM technique finds applications in various domains such as motor speed control, LED dimming, and audio signal generation. By adjusting the width or duty cycle of the pulses, the average output voltage or current can be controlled, allowing for fine-grained regulation of the associated devices or systems. Overall, three-phase voltage source inverters with PWM control offer flexibility and accuracy in managing power conversion and distribution, making them a key component in numerous energy-related applications.
