This review emphasizes recent developments in our understanding of the safety, effectiveness, and quality control of botanical medicines. Standardization of herbal formulations is required for the evaluation of quality medications. The quality of herbal drugs is the sum of all elements that contribute directly or indirectly to the product's safety, effectiveness, and acceptability. The field of herbal medications and formulations is evolving quickly these days, and there is still much to learn about standardization. Herbal medicines, on the other hand, suffer from a lack of standardized requirements. The fundamental constraint is the lack of standardization of raw materials, processing processes, finished products, dose formulation, and the absence of quality control requirements. It is vital to implement regulatory procedures for herbal medicines in order to ensure the quality, safety, and efficacy of herbal medications.
