Title

Multicomponent one-pot synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyano-7-hydroxy-4-substituted-4H-chromene derivatives using caffeine as a biodegradable homogeneous catalyst

Abstract

Caffeine was found to be a highly active and green catalyst for the synthesis of various 2-amino-3-cyano-7-hydroxy-4-substituted-4H-chromene derivatives by the condensation of aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile and resorcinol under EtOH-H2O (1:1) at reflux conditions. The reactions are characterized by high efficiency, short reaction time, high product yield, simple experimental procedure, availability of catalyst, and environmentally-friendly reaction conditions.
