Abstract
William Faulkner emerges as one of the greatest novelists of the world. He comes in the succession of great novelists like Turgenev, Zola, Balzac, Flaubert, Henry James, and Proust. By common consent, he is one of the major novelists America has ever produced. In respect of narrative technique, systematic handling of plot, originality of approach, imaginative appeal, prophetic vision, and, above all, mellifluous language, and lucid style he stands unrivalled.
