Title

Hand Gesture Vocalizer: A Sensor Based Approach

Abstract

This research focuses on the development and implementation of a hand gesture detection system using flex sensors to enhance the efficiency and intuitiveness of human-computer interaction (HCI). The proposed system integrates strategi- cally placed flex sensors on different parts of the hand, detecting and measuring changes in the angle of finger joints during various hand gestures. An advanced signal processing algorithm is employed to analyze the sensor data, enabling the identification of specific hand gestures with high accuracy. The system is designed to be versatile, accommodating a wide range of gestures to cater to diverse applications in HCI. Potential use cases include virtual reality inter- faces, gaming, sign language recognition, and other interactive computing en- vironments where natural and intuitive gesture-based controls can significantly improve user experience. The study evaluates the performance of the proposed system through experimental validation, assessing its accuracy, responsiveness, and reliability across different hand gestures and environmental conditions. The findings contribute valuable insights to the field of gesture-based HCI, offering a cost-effective and efficient solution for real-time hand gesture recognition. The research methodology involves the development of a prototype system that in- corporates Flex Sensors to capture hand gestures accurately. The synopsis dis- cusses the experimental setup, data collection process, and the implementa- tion of machine learning algorithms for gesture recognition. Preliminary results and findings from the prototype’s performance in various scenarios are also presented, highlighting the potential of Flex Sensor-based gesture detection in real-world applications.
