Bioflavonoids are examples of naturally occurring chemicals that have been used in medicine because of their wide biological activity, high safety margins, and affordable cost. Rutin is a poly phenolic bioflavonoid that, due to its notable antioxidant properties, has shown promise in a wide range of therapeutic applications. Antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-allergic properties are its usual uses. Flavonoids are a group of important secondary metabolites occurring in many plants which have rich biological activities such as anti-rheumatic, vasodilator, and anti-tumor effects. In order to treat antioxidant and anti-inflammatory therapy, this review aims to provide a current overview of the biological effects and mechanism of action of quercetin. It also discusses the advancements in research towards quercetin and rutin Nano formulations to increase their solubility and effectiveness. It is expected that further research into quercetin and rutin nano-complexes will yield fresh insights that expand their applications and impact in a variety of therapeutic fields.
