Abstract: The present research paper proposes Gandhian perspective and favours unprejudiced and liberal ideology to confront as well as address the vast spreading social malady caused due to the religious intolerance and communal disparity among different religious sects, ethnic groups and orthodox communities in India. In the name of religion, many despicable and immoral acts have been committed from time to time. Despite being brought up in an highly orthodox Hindu family, Gandhi believed in truth and Oneness of God. Communal hatred, according to Gandhi, retards progress and drags us to the path of backwardness. In the present scenario of social unrest, Gandhian perspective on communalism offers a feasible solution and inspires us to embrace non- violence, humanitarian approach and secular outlook.
