Title

Short term effect of Zinc chloride in Kidney Histomorphology of Snake head, Ophiocephalus punctatus.

Abstract

Abstract : The study was carried out to find out lethal and sub-lethal effect of Zinc on the histomorphology of kidney in Ophiocephalus punctatus. Zinc chloride at lethal and sub-lethal concentration caused deleterious effect on the kidney.The kidney exhibited several histological alterations like formation of clusters and lumps in haemopoietic tissue, deshaping of uriniferous tubules, narrowing of tubular lumen, vacuolization and degeneration of the cells of uriniferous tubules, increase of space in renal corpuscles and shrinkage in glomeruli. Dar et. al., (2011) reported that the severity in alterations increased in proportion to increased dose and time period.
