Title

Abstract

In today's rapidly changing economy, financial literacy has become essential for individuals across all types of employment. Financial literacy—the knowledge and skills necessary to manage one’s finances effectively—has far-reaching effects on economic stability and personal well-being. Financially literate individuals are better equipped to make informed decisions regarding budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management, contributing to their long-term financial security. However, financial literacy is particularly critical for workers in the gig economy, who face unique challenges associated with irregular income, limited benefits, and heightened financial risk. For gig workers, financial literacy is not only a valuable asset but a necessity. Unlike traditional employees, gig workers lack predictable income, often juggle multiple income sources, and are responsible for managing their own benefits, taxes, and retirement savings. This workforce segment includes freelancers, contractors, and part-time workers who work on a project-by-project basis, generally without access to employer-provided financial safety nets. Given these factors, gig workers are more susceptible to financial insecurity and fluctuations, making the acquisition of financial literacy skills paramount for building resilience and stability in the face of economic uncertainty.
