This manuscript delves into the role of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors in influencing firm performance in emerging markets. It critically evaluates the extent to which ESG integration aligns with financial success and explores the mechanisms through which these factors operate. Drawing on empirical and theoretical literature and synthesizing insights from regional case studies, this paper presents a multifaceted analysis of the challenges and opportunities associated with ESG adoption in BRICS economies. Findings suggest that ESG considerations, particularly governance, hold significant sway over corporate profitability and value creation, albeit with sectoral and regional variations.
