Title

Problems and Prospects of E-Banking Services – In Coimbatore City

Abstract

Banking sector plays an important role in the development of a country. It is the lifeline of an economy. A strong and healthy banking system is important requirement for economic growth. Indian banking industry, today, is in the midst of an IT (Information Technology) revolution. The implementation of internet in banking organizations has restructured the banks. E-banking has improved efficiency and convenience; it has also posed several challenges to the regulators and supervisors. The competition among the banks has led to the increasing total banking automation in the Indian banking industry. E-Banking is a generic term encompassing internet banking, telephone banking, mobile banking etc. Through E-Banking the bank wants to introduce the core concept of IT based services. The E-Banking services are executed only upon the customer, and these e-banking services would fully integrate with the core banking solution that is already in usage. Electronic banking is known as innovative banking. Developments in information technology have given a rise to innovations in the product & service designing and their supply in the banking sector and finance industries, customer services and satisfaction are their centre point of all the efforts. One of the most important areas of banking where Information Technology has a positive influence on the substitutes for traditional funds movement services. With the advent of online banking, electronic funds transfer and other similar products & services for funds transfer within quick time which was impossible a few years age. In our country is still in the early stages of E Banking growth and development. Competition and changes in technology and lifestyle in the last 10 years have changed the face of Banking. E Banking is likely to bring a host opportunities as well as unprecedented risks to the fundamental nature of Banking.
