Diabetes Meletus one of the fastest growing disease in the world in now. Diabetes is causes by lack of insulin secretion leading to elevated glucose level. Diabetes mainly classified in to two types Type – 1 diabetes and Type – 2 diabetes. Type – 1 diabetes is caused by autoimmune destruction of pancreatic β cells and in Type – 2 enough insulin is not producing or insulin resistance is caused. Experimental diabetic animal model is essential to understand pathogenesis, new therapies and cure. Diabetes is generally induced in animal model by chemical, surgery, mutation and some are genetically obese with diabetic. The present review discussed various animal model used in diabetes.
